Mikapyon is a cute game that was released on Steam in 2019 as a solo effort to bring a little game idea to life.
Unity Security#
A security issue was discovered in the Unity Engine, primarily affecting Android. Since Mikapyon is not supported on Android, it should remain unaffected. However, users should still be cautious with older Unity software. The Unity Engine security issue is a new development and additional information may surface later.
I stopped using Unity and have been exploring alternative engines to Unity due to its heavy disk space requirements, limited Linux support, delayed bug fixes, slow addition of needed features, and the inclusion of unnecessary tools.
Mikapyon Support#
Mikapyon was developed for older versions of Linux and Windows. The game will no longer receive updates or support, meaning that users on newer systems may experience compatibility issues over time.
I was planning to remove Mikapyon from Steam, but since the removal process is done manually, I decided to leave it on Steam. If you still own a copy you can play Mikapyon without Steam by running it with the command-line argument "-mikanosteam".
Mikapyon has appeared (without permission) on various strange websites over the years. Please be careful as these sites often pose risks like malware or phishing scams.
